Despite a resilient effort from Virat Kohli, India faced a dramatic collapse. Missed opportunities, including a dropped catch by Aiden Markram off Yashasvi Jaiswal early in the second innings, set the tone for India's struggle. Rohit Sharma and Jaiswal fell to Kagiso Rabada and Burger, respectively, as South Africa maintained control.
Shubman Gill provided brief resistance, but Marco Jansen dismissed him, leaving India struggling at 62-3 during tea. Kohli anchored the innings, but wickets continued to tumble in the final session. Jansen dismissed Shreyas Iyer, and Burger claimed two wickets in consecutive balls, removing KL Rahul and Ravichandran Ashwin.
South Africa's sharp fielding, including catches by David Bedingham at gully, contributed to India's downfall. Kohli's valiant stand ended at 76 runs, caught brilliantly by Rabada in the deep.
